About Us

The club has a long running twinning with Le Havre. More details

The club was formed in 1974 and originally played behind Cobbetts Restaurant (now Reggina's) in Botley Square, hence the name. The club moved to Botley Recreation Ground in 1981 before moving to a new terrain built at Burridge in 1996 (more details). This is a much larger terrain (43m x 15m) allowing room for 16 matches. There is also a bar in the pavilion for players to enjoy a drink.

The club has over 30 members of all ages from 8 years old to almost 80! There are players of all abilities from those with just a few weeks experience and those who just play on club nights, to the regular league players and those who have represented the Southern Counties region, England and Great Britain.

The club is affiliated to the Southern Counties Petanque Association (SCPA) which is one of the 15 member regions of the English Petanque Association (EPA). The club currently enters two teams into the SCPA 6-a-side League and one team into the 9-a-side league.League fixtures, results and tables for 2009 can be found here

The SCPA and the Cobbetts Club have adopted the EPA Junior and Vulnerable Members Protection Policy.

The official rules of petanque can be downloaded from the SCPA website http://www.southerncountiespetanque.org.uk/rules.html
